In addition to Kershner’s signature, it also features a ”Director” inscription. Following early success in his career, Kershner would quickly become well-known and direct several blockbuster films. Thanks to his friendship with George Lucas, he would be handed off the task from Lucas himself to direct The Empire Strikes Back. Following the film’s release in 1980, he would earn Best Actor honors from the Saturn Awards, as well as Best Dramatic Presentation from the Hugo Awards. Throughout his career, he contributed to several other notable films as a director, actor and producer, including Never Say Never Again and RoboCop 2.
