Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts Top List of Best-Selling MLB Jerseys in 2024
Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani emerged as the top-selling MLB jersey for the 2024 season, according to Major League Baseball and MLB Players, Inc. The rankings were based on sales figures from MLBShop.com since the start of the season.
Joining Ohtani in the top five were Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Aaron Judge from the New York Yankees, Mookie Betts of the Dodgers, and Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets. Ohtani’s popularity soared even higher after he signed a groundbreaking 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers.
Notably, Ohtani was not the only Dodgers player to feature in the top 20 jersey sales. Teammates Freddie Freeman and Clayton Kershaw also made the list. The top 20 players represented a diverse range of countries and territories, including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Puerto Rico, the United States, and Venezuela.
Ohtani’s exceptional performance on the field further fueled his jersey sales. In a historic first season with the Dodgers, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first player to join the 50-50 club. Setting numerous franchise and MLB records along the way, Ohtani is poised to receive multiple accolades for his outstanding achievements this offseason.
This is not the first time Ohtani has led in jersey sales. Previously, as a member of the Los Angeles Angels, he topped the charts. Upon his move to the Dodgers, Ohtani shattered sales records, surpassing Lionel Messi’s Fanatics record for jersey sales within the first 48 hours of its release.
The list of most popular MLB player jerseys for 2024 also featured other standout players such as Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves, Juan Soto from the New York Yankees, and Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres. The diverse representation of players from various teams and backgrounds underscores the widespread appeal of MLB stars among fans.
As the season progresses and more exciting moments unfold on the field, the popularity of these players and their jerseys is expected to continue to captivate baseball enthusiasts worldwide.
