Dodgers Stars Ohtani, Betts Among Top MLB Players for 2024

Major League Baseball and MLB Players, Inc. recently unveiled the top-selling player jerseys for the 2024 season, with Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers claiming the number one spot. Following Ohtani in the rankings are Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Mookie Betts of the Dodgers, and Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets.

These rankings were determined based on sales of Nike jerseys on MLBShop.com since the beginning of the season. Notably, Ohtani and Betts were not the only Dodgers players to make the top 20 list. Freddie Freeman and Clayton Kershaw also secured spots on the list, highlighting the team’s popularity among fans.

The top 20 players featured in the jersey sales represent a diverse group hailing from six different countries and territories, including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Puerto Rico, the United States, and Venezuela. Ohtani, in particular, has been a fan favorite for years, with his popularity soaring after signing a groundbreaking 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers.

Ohtani’s performance on the field has further solidified his status as a baseball icon. In his first season with the Dodgers, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first player to join the 50-50 club, setting numerous franchise and MLB records along the way. His exceptional performance is expected to earn him multiple accolades during the upcoming offseason.

It is worth noting that Ohtani previously topped the MLB jersey sales charts while playing for the Los Angeles Angels. Upon joining the Dodgers, Ohtani’s jersey sales broke records, surpassing Lionel Messi’s Fanatics record for the most sales within the first 48 hours of its release.

The list of the most popular MLB player jerseys for 2024 extends beyond the top five, featuring standout players like Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves, Juan Soto of the New York Yankees, Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros, and Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres. Other notable names include Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres.
