Red Sox to Add New Jersey for 2025 Season While Retaining Yellow Uniforms

The Boston Red Sox are gearing up for a fresh look in the upcoming 2025 season, with reports indicating that they will be sporting new uniforms. According to sources, the Red Sox are bidding farewell to their blue alternate jerseys this offseason and are preparing to introduce a new “City Connect” jersey for the following summer.

Despite these changes, fans of the team can rest assured that the beloved yellow jerseys inspired by the Boston Marathon will remain a staple in the Red Sox’s uniform lineup. Adam Grossman, the Red Sox’s chief marketing officer, confirmed that the yellow uniforms have been well-received by both players and fans, prompting the decision to keep them as a core offering for the foreseeable future. Grossman explained that Major League Baseball allows teams with a current City Connect jersey to revamp it after a few seasons, and in this case, the Red Sox have opted to retain the popular yellow design while introducing a new City Connect 2.0 uniform for the 2025 season, thereby bidding adieu to the blue alternate jerseys.

As part of the uniform reshuffle, the Red Sox will rotate between their traditional home whites, alternate home reds, road grays, and the iconic yellow jerseys, with the new City Connect jerseys serving as a fifth option for select games. The blue alternate jerseys, worn during the team’s 2018 World Series victory, will be replaced by the upcoming City Connect jerseys, the design of which has yet to be unveiled.

During the 2024 season, the Red Sox predominantly sported their home whites at Fenway Park, donning red alternates on Fridays and yellow City Connect jerseys on Saturdays. On the road, they wore grays for most games, except for Fridays when the now-retired blue alternates made an appearance.

The yellow jerseys have proven to be lucky for the Red Sox, boasting an impressive record of 35-13 since their debut in 2021. Fans can look forward to seeing the team don a mix of classic and new uniforms in the upcoming season, as the Red Sox continue to make sartorial statements on the field.
