Schoolblazer Partners with Hancock & Gore for Enhanced School Management
School uniform supplier Schoolblazer has recently announced a significant merger with Australia’s Hancock & Gore group, the proud owner of the Mountcastle and LW Reid brands in Australia, as well as the Argyle brand in New Zealand. This strategic move is set to establish a formidable global uniform group in the industry.
Since its establishment in 2004, Schoolblazer has experienced remarkable growth, emerging as a key player in the UK independent school market, commanding approximately 35% of the sector. Through its innovative online platform, unique product designs, and the introduction of the Limitless sportswear brand, Schoolblazer has revolutionized the offerings available to independent schools and parents. The merger with Hancock & Gore presents an opportunity for Schoolblazer to further expand its operations in the UK while embarking on the journey of introducing its distinctive services to the Australian market.
Tim James, one of the co-founders of Schoolblazer, is slated to retain his position as chairman of the UK business and will also join the board of Hancock & Gore, emerging as the largest shareholder in the group. Meanwhile, Louise Crofts, the current managing director of Schoolblazer, will continue in her role alongside the existing management team. Robin Horsell, another co-founder of Schoolblazer, will be stepping back from the UK business to embark on his retirement journey but will remain actively involved in a consultancy capacity to support the growth of Schoolblazer in Australia.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the merger, Tim James remarked, “This is an exciting time for Schoolblazer and represents the next chapter of our growth story. It gives opportunities for our team and our customers, bringing access to more product and better scale.” He also acknowledged the support and recognition from Hancock & Gore, attributing the success to the entire Schoolblazer team’s efforts. The merger is expected to bring about positive changes and disruptions in the market, benefiting both customers and employees.
Sandy Beard, the chairman of Hancock & Gore in Australia, expressed admiration for Schoolblazer’s accomplishments in the UK and eagerly anticipates leveraging their expertise in the Australian market. The collaboration between the two entities is poised to bring about a new wave of innovation and excellence in the uniform industry.
In navigating this significant transition, Schoolblazer received support from Polestar CF and Howes Percival, further solidifying the foundation for their continued success and growth in the global market.
