Capitals Partner with TikTok for New Jerseys and Exclusive Content
TikTok has recently announced a significant partnership with the Washington Capitals, extending its collaboration to include the Washington Wizards, the Washington Mystics, the NBA G-League’s Capital City Go-Go, and NBA2K’s Wizards District Gaming. This partnership is set to impact various aspects of the sports scene, from in-arena branding to exclusive content on Monumental Sports Entertainment’s network. The deal is effective immediately and will continue through the 2026-27 season.
A notable change resulting from this partnership is the inclusion of the TikTok logo on the Washington Capitals’ white road jerseys, debuting during the game against the Boston Bruins on September 24. Moreover, TikTok has secured the title sponsorship for the Capitals’ upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration, which will feature a series of events and initiatives commemorating 50 years of Caps hockey.
Jim Van Stone, the President of Business Operations at MSE, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the opportunity to leverage TikTok to engage with fans in unique and interactive ways across all Monumental Sports teams. Van Stone emphasized how TikTok empowers fans to express their passion for the Capitals and other teams in their distinct styles.
The Washington Capitals have already made a significant impact on TikTok, ranking as the eighth most-followed NHL team on the platform with over 387,700 followers and more than 10.3 million likes on their content. Their TikTok account features behind-the-scenes footage and player highlights, making it one of the most popular NHL team accounts on the platform.
The global hockey community on TikTok is also thriving, with hashtags like #hockey and #hockeytok generating millions of posts and interactions. Kate Jhaveri, TikTok’s Global head of marketing, commended Monumental Sports & Entertainment for their innovative approach to engaging fans through behind-the-scenes content and exclusive access to players on TikTok.
The partnership between TikTok and MSE is expected to elevate sports content and fan engagement to new heights, connecting a fresh generation of fans to the Washington Capitals and all the teams falling under MSE’s umbrella. This collaboration signifies a strategic move to tap into the growing digital landscape and engage with fans in more interactive and creative ways.
