Food Lion Unveils New Uniforms for Employees

Food Lion, based in Salisbury, N.C., is rolling out a fresh set of uniforms for its transportation and maintenance staff across all its supermarket brands, which include Food Lion, Bloom, Harvey’s, Reid’s, and Bottom Dollar Foods.

The new Wolverine Industrial Workwear Uniform, provided by OOBE in Greenville, S.C., features a range of shirt and pant styles, along with rain jackets and heavyweight jackets. Notably, the incorporation of heavyweight jackets is a new addition to Food Lion’s uniform program, all bearing the Food Lion branding.

To enhance the uniform experience, OOBE has introduced an online ordering system that empowers individual employees to personalize their orders. This customization allows employees to select the name they wish to have embroidered or printed on their shirts, as well as choose specific patches they want sewn on.

Brad Wirth, Food Lion’s standard practice manager, expressed satisfaction with OOBE’s approach, stating, “The vendor listened to our employees’ concerns about their previous uniforms and made adjustments to help ensure satisfaction.” Wirth highlighted the vendor’s effort in understanding Food Lion’s corporate culture and technology infrastructure, resulting in an online ordering system that streamlines the process of ordering, tracking, and reporting.

In addition to the transportation and maintenance staff, OOBE also designs and produces uniforms for the front-of-store personnel at all five supermarket chains under the Food Lion umbrella.

This initiative underscores Food Lion’s commitment to providing its employees with functional and branded workwear that aligns with the company’s values and enhances the overall employee experience. The introduction of these new uniforms reflects Food Lion’s dedication to maintaining a cohesive and professional image across its various supermarket brands, ultimately contributing to a more unified and recognizable identity for the company as a whole.
